Do I need to re-apply if I have already taken non-degree courses at UMass Lowell during a previous semester? You are not required to submit a new application if you have already completed non-degree courses at UMass Lowell in the past year. Instead, please fill out the Non-Degree Re-Enroll Form. If you were enrolled in courses greater than one year ago, please complete the UMass Lowell Undergraduate Application for consideration as a non-degree student.
Who is eligible to enroll in non-degree coursework at UMass Lowell? To qualify as a non-degree student, you must meet one of the following requirements:
When is the deadline to apply? We encourage you to apply as soon as you know you would like to enroll in non-degree courses. We will need to process your application and register you for classes before the start of a semester. Permission to enroll in courses will be denied if requirements including transcripts or proof of degree have not been received prior to course registration.When can I enroll in coursework? Registration for fall coursework will begin on August 15 and registration for spring coursework will begin on December 15. The Undergraduate Admissions Office requires receipt of official transcripts with final grades in current college coursework prior to enrollment.
Are there additional requirements for previous coursework completed at an international institution? Course descriptions are required for all of your international undergraduate coursework and transcripts from international institutions must be evaluated course-by-course by World Education Services (WES) to confirm completion of pre-requisite coursework.
What is the cost? The cost of non-degree coursework is determined by the number of credits you enroll in each semester. Students are responsible for tuition and applicable fees as well as any required course materials. All students who want to register for a course are required to understand and agree to the terms and conditions of the Student Financial Responsibility Agreement (FRA) once every academic year.
Are there limits to the number of courses I can take through non-degree coursework? Any visiting student who wishes to pursue a limited non-degree program may take up to a maximum of 15 credits, limited to 11 credits per semester.
Do I need to provide a record of my Covid-19 vaccine? The university strongly recommends that all members of the campus community remain up to date on COVID-19 vaccinations.
Can I receive learning accommodations as a non-degree student? If you would like to inquire about available accommodations, you will need to contact the office of Disability Services as soon as you are approved to take a course. They will determine what reasonable accommodations can be provided to you.
